Olayinka Segelu was a one time Personal assistant to the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Sabur Bankole where he cut his teeth to become a full-fledged politician from 2007-2011 and was later appointed as Personal Assistant to Senator from Kogi Central Senatorial District Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman who served from 2011-2015.
Olayinka Segelu contested for the seat of the Federal House Representatives to represent the good people of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency 2015 anf 2023 which according to the analyst still funding the politicians in the two Local Governments despite the fact that he is yet to clinch the House of Representatives seat.

One of the frontline journalists in Oyo State also doubled as the Executive member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council said he was invited for 10 – year remembrance and prayer for the Late Hon. Segelu at the Segelu Hotel, Iwo Road, Ibadan.
He said he was surprised by the calibre of people he met under the canopy, after the 10- year demise of the late Honourable, Segelu, Hon. Yinka Segelu still maintaining his father political disciples, the political caucus, party followers of his late father.
