There is need for Non Governmental Organizations to collaborate with the State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion and other Social Welfare related MDAs in order to be the voice of the less privileged and needy in the Society.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion Hon Mrs Toyin Balogun stated this during the inauguration of the newly elected executives members of Community Chest Council (CCC) and One Day Roundtable Forum Discussion with the topic “The Role of NGOs in the Society In Times Like This”, held at the Social Welfare Training Centre Samonda, Ibadan.
Hon Balogun who was represented by the Director Women Programme, Mr Diya Ogunjimi stated that the collaboration of Non Governmental Organizations and the State Government will strengthen the collective resolve to create positive change in the lives of the vulnerable and less privileged in the society.
The Commissioner stressed that the unwavering commitment to serving those in need fills our Country and State with hope and resilience while the event of the day is a catalyst for even greater collaboration and impact .
In his inaugural speech, the Chairman of CCC, Oyo State, Dr. Matthew Ayodele stated that the Community Chest Council is the umbrella body of all the organised Non- Profit Societies, Humanitarian / Charity Organisations, Homes, NGOs, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) and Voluntary Organisations in the State.
Dr. Ayodele said the activities of the council includes provision of selfless services to the destitute, delinquent children, aged, ex- convicts, drug addicts, physically challenged, disadvantaged and other vulnerable people in the society.
Highlights of the event includes swearing in of the new executive by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Roundtable Discussion taken by past chairmen of the Council, choreography and recitations from invited schools and Homes.
