The new Archbishop of Ecclesiastical province of Ibadan , the Most Rev’d.( Dr) Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe had disclosed that in his new tenure of leadership, he would make consultations when and where necessary.
The disclosure was made during the service of Thanksgiving for the Election and Presentation of the Most Rev’d Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe as the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical province of Ibadan on Sunday.
The service of Thanksgiving was held at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan
While appreciating those who contributed to his election and presentation, Archbishop Aladekugbe assured them of his readiness to seek for their counseling , advice and support at all times.
Archbishop Aladekugbe used the opportunity to remind the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Nigeria is a secular state according to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and should not place one religion above others,thus not expected to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Saudi-Arabia.
“We need to inform president Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his participation at recent Arab-Islamic Summit is a gross violation of the Nigerian constitution which he swore to uphold.
Nigeria is neither a Arab nation nor Islamic nation,therefore for him to have unilaterally dragged Nigeria into Arab-Islamic Affairs is a grievous disparaging of Nigerian people and the constitution , such blatant disrespect and disregard for Nigeria true position at international stage is highly regrettable “, he further stressed.
The cleric called on Nigerians not to loose hope in their nation despite the present hardship but instead continue to pray for Nigeria’s progress and unity for there is light at the end of the tunnel.
In his sermon, the Most Rev’d ( Dr) Michael Fape, the Bishop of Remo Anglican Diocese and the Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical province described Archbishop Aladekugbe as leader of leaders and advised him to seek the wisdom and grace of God for success in his new dispensation and tasks ahead.
Congratulating the new Archbishop, the guest preacher declared that he had confidence in the new Archbishop that he would perform brilliantly considering his antecedents and his good past records , he called Archbishops,Bishops,Archdeacons, Venerables,other Clergies and laity to give him necessary and needed support.
Gracing the occasion were Archbishops, Bishops, traditional rulers, business tycoons, church leaders , University management team, Archbishop Aladekugbe’s family members, well-wishers among others.
